The BEST way to contact me is email. If you prefer a phone call, we can absolutely schedule a time to talk.

Studying:
- Like math, Spanish is cumulative. You cannot do long division without understanding addition, and the same is true when you are learning grammatical concepts in a foreign language.
- Students must study for at least 15-30 minutes every night in order to master what was taught in class that day. Otherwise the next day’s lesson will not be as effective.
- Flashcards can be very helpful. I tell the kids that they are 3 ways to use them in order make sure that you really know the word:
2. Look at the Spanish and say it in English.
3. Look at the English and write it in Spanish.
- My site often has extra activities.
- As does www.studyspanish.com and Quizlet for free!
Textbooks / Notes
- Your child’s Spanish notebook is their textbook! It is important that they keep all numbered handouts.
Homework:
- There is homework almost every night, though it is not usually very long to allow for studying.
- It should be done carefully and using notes, as it is checked for accuracy and total completeness.
- Students may receive half credit if they turn it in the next day.
- Assignments are always on my website to download from home.
- If you would like to check to see if your student has been doing their homework, ask to see their “Homework Calendar.” They should have a stamp on each day that homework was checked, and each one is worth 5 points.
Quizzes / Tests / Retakes
- Quizzes and tests are always listed on my portal.
- Review Sessions will be held after school for 30 minutes before tests and quizzes as needed. Dates will be posted on my site and in the classroom.
- I allow students to retake any test and I will give them the averaged score.
- Students have 1 week to retake a quiz once it has been given back in order to study; I highly recommend that they work with me first.
- A retake can never hurt anyone’s grade!
NO Internet Translators
The use of online translators is completely unacceptable. While internet translators can be useful for more advanced level learners, it is difficult for novices to use them correctly and to know that the information that they are getting is accurate. If they are used to translate passages, it will be considered plagiarism. Cheating of any variety will not be tolerated and will be handled according to school policy.
